Luxury Travel Vodcasts

There is a lot to learn when it comes to luxury travel.

It can be hard for busy professionals to find time to stay up to date on the current state of the travel industry, especially since Covid-related restrictions around the world are constantly changing. Our vodcasts—informational and exploratory videos with industry professionals sharing insider knowledge—can flatten the learning curve a bit.
Let our vodcast series help you nail down those travel hacks, discover your next bucket-list destination, or give you a reason to dream of future trips.

Travel Insurance Demystified

We interviewed Suzanne Setlak of Travelex Insurance Services in 2020, at the height of the Covid pandemic, to demystify travel insurance. We tackled all the elements of this important topic in bite-sized videos (because the only way we were going to read about insurance was if we ran out of Ambien!). Suzanne says, “I would never leave the U.S. without travel insurance.” Watch these short, informative pieces to find out why.

Aqua expeditions

Intimate numbers, small luxury vessels, sustainability, local cuisine, and incredible experiences around the globeluxury tour operator Monika Weinsoft discusses what makes Aqua Expeditions different.

Aqua Expeditions experiences range from cruising along the Amazon River through the rainforest, discovering the world’s largest protected biosphere in the Galapagos, tasting local history in Indonesia and sailing from Vietnam to Cambodia on the high tide.

 Private Jet Services

Flying private has long been viewed as the apex of posh living and can seem like an out-of-reach indulgence. But if you think social distancing at thirty-five thousand feet requires access to your own personal Gulfstream, think again. Here’s a primer on private aviation with our preferred supplier that includes information on price points and explores the services available in the most “ultra” of luxury modes of travel.

Big Five Tours & Expeditions

A Big Five client has been there and done it all. They don’t just do what everyone else does . . . they go beyond top-ten lists to take you deeper, farther, and more fully into some of the most extraordinary places around the globe. In this interview we go all-in with the president of Big Five, and tag along on some uncommon adventures in stunning locations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the South Pacific.

Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic

We chat with Lesa Bain of Lindblad Expeditions, which has been cruising Antarctica and Galapágos—and everywhere in between—for over fifty years. Committed to a culture of sustainability, their long-time partnership with the National Geographic Society also grants you access to world-renowned researchers, scientists, and photographers on your trip. Lindblad is the antithesis of mass-market cruise operators. Come with us in this series to see why.

AmaWaterways

The luxury ships of the AmaWaterways fleet operate along the rivers of Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia. With plush staterooms, fine dining, and customized shore excursions, river cruising offers opulent exploration made easy. We chat with Columba Calicchio about the unique opportunities that river cruising offers, whether you want to hit the road on a bicycle expedition or just enjoy panoramic views of the world’s most beautiful cities from your balcony.

Tracking Wolves

In 2022, I went with nationally renowned photographer Michael S. Miller and five other professional photographers to Yellowstone National Park. While there, we tracked wolves and other wildlife, capturing their images in this exquisite and enchanting winter wonderland. (A big thank-you to Michael for taking the few shots of me seen in this video.)

 Egypt

My parents had planned to take a Nile River cruise similar to this one. The cruise was delayed due to the “Arab Spring” of 2011 and not rescheduled. Mom died suddenly in May of 2018. She doesn’t know that I retired from Wall Street after twenty years or that I started a luxury travel advisor business, but I do think she was with Dad and me, smiling, as we embarked on our trip to Egypt together in October 2021.

Expedition to Antarctica

Did you know that only one hundred people can go ashore in Antarctica at a time? Did you know that luxury cruise lines probably only make one landing a day and carry anywhere from two to three hundred passengers? This means that on a luxury cruise line you have, at best, a 50% chance of going ashore on a given day. I flew the twenty-four-plus hours to get to Ushuaia, Argentina, to meet Aurora Expeditions’s newest vessel, the Sylvia Earle, and then braved the Drake Passage for a few cold days days this past December. I would have lost my mind if, after all that, I had been restricted from going ashore. An Opulent Explorer travel advisor can keep you from being left behind.

The Serengeti, Tanzania

Wanna know how to get the kids to put their phones down? Take a game drive and put a rhino in front of them! Or float in a hot air balloon over a massive herd of animals. Or watch elephants crossing the mighty Zambezi River just above Victoria Falls.

In 2020, we visited Serengeti National Park, one of the oldest ecosystems on earth and Africa’s top World Heritage site, to watch the great annual migration of wildebeests (and zebras, gazelles, elands, and impalas) making their thunderous way across the Serengeti plain.
